Inspired by photographs from the A.R. Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, Colorado, this piece blends my own narrative as well as the museum’s namesake artist, A.R. Mitchell. The original photo shows a young woman and a horse, gazing at the landscape, before or after a ride. I imagine a fictional beast, emblazoned with feminine markings, in love with her favorite pony, Buttercup.
